    Abstract: Nanometric-sized LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 powders were obtained from the resins synthesized by the polymerization of citric acid and cellulose. The powder calcined at 600 oC exhibited a pure high temperature phase of LiNi0.8Co0.2O2. The surface response method was applied for the optimal preparatory conditions of LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 powder; as a result nanometric-sized LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 powder with average particle size of about 65 nm was prepared. The first run discharge capacity of the electrode prepared by the optimal experiment was 168 mAh/g.
